Sam Ryder was born on December 15, 1989, in Winter Park, Florida. He attended Stetson University, where he played collegiate golf from 2008 to 2012. During his time at Stetson, he was a standout player and earned Atlantic Sun All-Conference honors.

Professional Career
Ryder turned professional in 2012 and worked his way through the mini-tours before earning his Web.com Tour (now Korn Ferry Tour) card.
