Brian Stuard was born on December 9, 1982, in Jackson, Michigan. He attended Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan, where he played collegiate golf and graduated in 2005.

Stuard turned professional in 2005 and earned his PGA Tour card through Q-School in 2009. His breakthrough victory came at the 2016 Zurich Classic of New Orleans, winning in a playoff against Jamie Lovemark and Byeong-hun An.
